About Johannes

I am the founder of the fashion brand Johannes Warnke and a Central Saint Martins graduate, working actively within the fashion industry. During my studies at Central Saint Martins, I received scholarship support and gained experience within luxury and couture fashion environments including Viktor&Rolf, Givenchy, Balmain, and bespoke tailoring ateliers, giving me a strong technical and professional foundation. My work focuses on modern occasion wear and VIP performance pieces, informed by a background in painting and contemporary dance and a strong emphasis on movement, colour, and form.

My professional experience includes designing and dressing international artists such as Björk, Lady Gaga, Grimes, Kylie Jenner, Megan Thee Stallion, Rina Sawayama, and Post Malone for performances, editorials, and public appearances. I have presented collections at institutions including Dover Street Market Paris, Selfridges Avantgarde Gallery, and as part of the Fashion East June Show, and my work has been featured in publications such as Vogue, WWD, i-D, Numéro, and Document Journal.

I am passionate about supporting emerging designers in developing strong creative identities, technical confidence, and clear professional direction, and I am fluent in German. Through my background in fine art, I also support students in strengthening visual research, composition, and concept development alongside garment construction.

About the lesson

As a fashion brand owner with several years of experience in couture fashion houses and VIP dressing, working actively within the industry since graduating from Central Saint Martins, I offer focused, online one-to-one fashion design tutoring based on professional practice.

My lessons guide students through the full fashion design process, from early concept development to finished garments and portfolio presentation. Teaching covers draping, pattern making, sewing, and sketching, alongside structured support in developing coherent concepts through first- and secondary research.

During online sessions, I help students refine ideas, build clear narratives, and translate research into design decisions. This includes guidance on illustration, layout, visual editing, and presentation, ensuring projects communicate intent clearly for university applications and professional portfolios.

Lessons typically last 90 minutes and are organised around specific goals, such as developing a collection idea, resolving construction challenges, improving drape or sketching skills, or preparing work for interviews and assessments. Sustainability is addressed where relevant through material choices, construction methods, and dyeing processes as part of professional practice.

Lessons are suitable for students aged 16 and above, including foundation, BA, and MA applicants, as well as early-career designers.
