About Lauren
I am a British student studying environmental biology and international development at the Liberal Arts and Sciences honors college of Maastricht University in the Netherlands.
I've been writing academically for three years and have used this experience to design classes for both English Natives looking to improve their writing, and for English language learners.
As a language student myself am well aware of the challenges writing brings and how difficult it can be to express things as fluidly as a native speaker. I also understand that for some people academic writing in their first language doesn't come naturally - but I firmly believe that it can be learnt!

My teaching methodology for written English revolves around reading and THEN writing. I believe that it is essential to read well-written texts consciously, to notice how they flow and are structured, in order to then reflect on how your own work can be improved.
Lessons with me involve reading an example of text in depth which executes one skill particularly well (for example conciseness or the use of the passive voice), then completing exercises to understand that skill, before writing your own text and reflecting on it.
