Campbell is an outstanding tutor, wouod not recommend him enough!
Very patient and makes music reading and theory so easy to understand, would not be anywhere near as good a player i am today if it weren’t for CampbellCampbell is really a brilliant tutor. He adapts all lessons to suit, not just exam led one size fits all approach. He's fun and very kind. More like a member of the family now.

Campbell is a fantastic instructor! My 10year old son thoroughly enjoys learning to play sax with Campbell. He is reliable, professional and enthusiastic about music. He has shown great patience with my son, taking time to get to know him whilst encouraging him to keep going with his learning. He has a very pleasant manner when teaching making the learning fun and relevant for a ten year old beginner. I would recommend Campbell to anyone beginners and experienced musicians as he is flexible in his teaching methods. Working in education myself I know this is no mean feat and I can’t thank him enough for his help encouraging my son!

First class tutor
Campbell is a great teacher.
Decided to pick up a bass guitar at the age of 20 with no background in music at all. After trying to self teach I decided to get lessons. And I’m glad I did my playing had came on leaps and bounds due to Campbell’s layed back teaching style were it feels like your having a jam with a friend instead of a lesson which in my opinion is the best way to learn. I have already recommended Campbell to all my friend and if you are looking to learn an instrument he is your manCampbell is a lovely laid back tutor that can put you at ease and knows how to get the best out of your playing. He is very knowledgeable and is not rigid in his teaching methods. My daughter looks forward to her guitar lessons.
Just a quick e-mail to thank you for your patience yesterday, I really appreciate it. And to also point out something to you, your teaching method is fantastic. You give so much great advice, you most probably don't even realise it. For example when I asked if it was OK to use an electric guitar for the lesson, your reply stuck with me. " Sure Dave, and have fun with it. Put some reverb in some delay too, use your effects to make it a bit more interesting
Campbell has really improved my playing.I hope to teach eventually and with the knowledge I have gained from lessons I now feel I am getting to that level.I now can sight read to a high standard and can play in many styles.I would have no hesitation in advising lessons with Campbell.
We have had Campbell as our daughter's tutor for over six months and he has helped her a great deal. He seems very thorough in his approach and more importantly he shares his love of the guitar and music and has increased her confidence no end.
Campbell is very professional in every way. He is accommodating and has helped and encouraged my daughter in gaining a "1" for her standard grade. I have no hesitation in recommending him for lessons.
Fantastic tutor, patient, adaptable. Lessons move at a perfect pace and have the right amount of variety to keep me interested and on my toes. Good mixture of technique learning and personal projects. I would recommend Campbell to anyone wanting to learn the guitar, no matter what stage they were at.
Campbell is a professional who delivers professional yet relaxed tuition, and will have you playing in no time. I highly recommend.
While I realise that Campbell tutors guitar, my comments relate to his saxophone tutorials.
Campbell is a very patient, skilled and effective tutor, who has been responsible for me achieving a surprising level of musical development in playing the saxophone. I look forward to and really enjoy lesson sessions.Campbell is an excellent guitar tutor. He motivates and encourages my son to learn guitar as well as providing him with the necessary skills. 01
When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?
From the early age of four I was amazed by the music of The Beatles and used to find myself singing their songs, which were in the chart at that time, on my way to Primary School. This developed into my love for the guitar and bass which I seriously took up at the age of ten. I later at around 30 years old took up the alto saxophone being influenced by songs such as Careless Whisper and Baker Street. I then moved onto tenor saxophone.
02
Is there a particular type music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?
Although I love rock, soul, pop and jazz I’m sad to say I’m also a fan of Eurovision and love the 1975 winner by Teach in called Ding a Dong.
03
Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.
I find amongst my guitar students that songs such as Sultans of Swing takes time to develop all the finer nuances as originally applied by Mark Knopfler.
04
What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?
I think of all instrument’s guitar is difficult to master left and right hand working together successfully. There are also so many styles to playing guitar from classical fingerpicking to two handed tapping on electric rock guitar.
05
What are your keys to success?
A little practice on a regular daily basis will yield fabulous results. After a few lessons progress will be obvious.
06
Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.
I would love to meet the following:-
Paul McCartney because as stated earlier The Beatles were such a big influence I also think Maccas bass playing is very underestimated. I love his amazing song writing ability.
Jimi Hendrix is an unlikely choice as he passed away in 1970 but he still influences and amazes even the best guitarist in the world. He had such a unique approach to guitar playing and I also feel his vocal abilities were underestimated. I also imagine he would have been fun and polite.
Raphael Ravenscroft because his alto saxophone tone on Baker Street is amazing. He is also the author of the saxophone tutor course I use called The Complete Saxophone Player available in Alto and tenor formats.07
Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.
Practice slowly initially. If you can’t play it slow then you can’t play it fast.
08
What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?
Very patient, thorough but fun.
