About Paul

I’m Paul, an English tutor with a genuine passion for helping students reach their goals. I’ve always been drawn to language and its nuances - how it works, how it connects us, and how it can open doors in education, work, and everyday life. That interest led me to complete a degree in liberal arts with a focus on creative writing, and later to earn my CELTA qualification so I could teach English professionally.
Teaching is meaningful to me because I understand, from first-hand experience, how hard it can be to learn from someone who doesn't care about learning what works best for you. I love figuring out what structure, activities and style allows the learner to work at their full potential and grow into their own voice. Whether someone is preparing for an exam, improving their communication for work, or simply trying to feel more at ease in English, I enjoy being part of that journey. I value patience, clarity, and encouragement, and I aim to create a space where students feel comfortable making mistakes and exploring new ideas.
Students can expect a tutor who is reliable, well-prepared, and genuinely invested in their progress. I take the time to understand each learner’s goals and adapt my approach to suit their pace and learning style.

About the lesson

I focus on creating lessons that are engaging, supportive, and tailored to each learner’s goals. My CELTA training has shaped a communicative, student-centred approach: I guide learners to use English actively and confidently, rather than simply memorising rules. I build each lesson around clear objectives, varied activities, and plenty of opportunities to practise speaking, listening, reading, and writing in meaningful ways.
Methodology:
- Communicative language teaching — lessons built around real-life situations and purposeful communication.
- Guided discovery — instead of lecturing grammar, I help students notice patterns and understand how English works through examples and practice.
- Creative learning — my background in creative writing allows me to design activities that spark imagination, improve fluency, and build confidence in self-expression.
- Personalised feedback — I give clear, constructive feedback that helps learners understand their strengths and what to focus on next.
Most lessons run for 60 minutes, which allows enough time to introduce new language, practise it, and consolidate learning. I also offer 30-minute sessions for focused skills work, conversation practice, or busy schedules.
I am CELTA-qualified, trained in teaching English to speakers of other languages using internationally recognised methods. I also hold a degree in liberal arts with a focus on creative writing, which strengthens my ability to teach writing skills, storytelling, and clear communication. I have experience working with learners from a wide range of backgrounds, levels, and learning styles.
I teach:
- Adults and teenagers (13+)
- Beginner to advanced learners.
- Students preparing for exams, improving academic writing, developing professional English, or simply wanting to build confidence in everyday communication.
- Learners who enjoy a friendly, patient, and creative learning environment.
