About Zakkiyya
Hi, I'm Zakkiyya - a PGCE qualified English teacher from Durban.
I taught English in South Africa and Saudi Arabia, working with Montessori right up to high school learners, and I've tutored university students and adult professionals.
Coming back home, I saw how many learners struggle not because English is hard, but because it's not explained in a simple, patient way.
I'm calm, encouraging and I don't rush you. I explain until you get it.
*Why I love teaching*
I love that moment when a learner goes from "Ma'am I don't understand" to "Ohhh now I get it!" especially with essays and literature.
English can change your marks, your confidence, and your future options.
Helping a Grade 12 learner pass Matric or a shy student finally speak up in class is why I do this.
I make lessons relaxed, practical and focused on what YOU need - whether it's homework tonight or finals next month.
Outside teaching, I love reading, travel and learning about different cultures.
