About Emily
I am certified to teach English grades 7-12 in Connecticut. I’ve taught primarily middle school aged-children but do have experience working with high school and college students. I graduated with a BA in English from Southern Connecticut State University; I then attended Sacred Heart University where I received my teaching certification and Masters in Teaching. While there, I received an award for “Extraordinary Service” in student teaching. I’ve taught ELA in Bridgeport and New Haven.

Depending on the student and their level, I normally scale my teaching to their needs. I provide models of what the goal product is and we work together from there. I believe students learn best through actions rather than lectures. I also include visuals in my lessons for those who are visual learners (like myself) and read aloud sections of texts for auditory learners.
