About Linda
I worked for 40 years in the education profession My titles have included Speech Therapist, ESL instructor, Massage Therapy Instructor. I have worked in public schools, private clinics, and at college campuses.
I have never officially retired from teaching (although technically I only teach Bible study now) but our program was discontinued due to COVID-19.
Even this gave me the opportunity to learn how to use technology to teach my students remotely. For me, teaching is learning for myself as well as my students.
I find older students want to learn things that will make them more independent or they are at a time in their lives when they are ready for a change.
Whatever their reasons, they feel a better grasp of the English language will provide them that opportunity. I would be happy to help them reach their goals.

My desire is to teach English to adults. I am willing to tutor students in English classes as well as language based studies at levels K-12. I would prefer not to tutor math.
I use a variety or combination of methods depending on the needs of my students and their purposes and goals in taking the class. I feel my ability to serve students with different levels pf English learning in one group is an asset; and to individualize instructions and expectations.
I include direct method, total physical response that revolve around subjects or themes or unit that include group interaction and projects .
A typical lesson would begin with direct teaching of greetings with pictures or in TPR
I use age appropriate books within the curriculum that I have
used or that will be developed for the needs of the students and build on the vocabulary and experiences they bring to the class.
