I believe in a student-centred approach, tailoring lessons to each learner’s goals, interests, and learning style. My teaching methodology combines immersive, communicative techniques with structured grammar and vocabulary building. I use real-life scenarios, such as role-playing conversations (e.g., ordering food or navigating travel situations), to make learning practical and engaging. For reading and writing, I incorporate kanji practice with interactive tools like flashcards and apps. Cultural immersion is key—students explore Japanese customs, media, and traditions to deepen understanding. I provide constructive feedback and encourage active participation to build confidence. For advanced learners, I focus on nuanced expression, JLPT preparation, or business Japanese, depending on their needs.

Learn more about LISA

  • Do you speak this language fluently because of your origins or because a teacher inspired you to learn?

I have been learning Japanese since childhood, which helped me develop both fluency and a deep appreciation for Japanese language and culture. Over the years, my passion for languages continued to grow through study, practice, and meaningful experiences communicating with others.
  • Can you name a living, historical or fictional character that you think is the emblematic representative of the language's culture?

I really admire Hayao Miyazaki as a representative of Japanese culture. His works beautifully reflect Japanese emotions, imagination, nature, and the importance of human connection.
  • Is there a typical word, phrase, tradition or behavior in the language that you particularly like?

One Japanese phrase I especially love is “一期一会” (ichi-go ichi-e), which means treasuring every meeting because it may happen only once in a lifetime. I think it reflects the beauty and sensitivity of Japanese culture.
  • Why does speaking this language matter to you?

Speaking Japanese matters to me because language is more than communication — it is a bridge to culture, emotions, and understanding people on a deeper level. Teaching Japanese allows me to share that passion with my students.
  • What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?

One of the biggest difficulties in learning Japanese is kanji and sentence structure, especially for beginners. However, with consistent practice, patience, and enjoyable communication, students can improve naturally and gain confidence step by step.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.

One memorable experience was seeing one of my students confidently have their first natural conversation in Japanese after months of learning. It was a simple moment, but seeing their excitement and genuine connection with the language reminded me why I love teaching so much.
  • How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?

Communicating with Japanese people and learning about Japanese culture through media, conversations, and personal experiences has helped me improve my understanding of the language and teach it more naturally and practically.
  • What makes you a Superprof in language?

I believe what makes me a Superprof is my patience, empathy, and ability to create a relaxed and encouraging learning environment. I always want my students to feel comfortable, enjoy the learning process, and become more confident using Japanese in real life.
