About Rachel
My education philosophy is grounded in facilitating an inclusive, future-ready learning community where every student is empowered to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. I believe that every child can thrive when their needs are met, and they feel safe and creatively free to follow their passions. In my classroom I strive to remove as many barriers to success as possible so that students are free to explore knowledge, develop skills and access tools at their own pace with no limitations to their creativity. I see my role as their mentor, facilitator, and fellow dreamer, supporting young people as they discover mysteries and magic this magnificent world has to offer, while helping them develop the social-emotional skills they will need to sustain it for themselves, their local and global neighbors, and future generations.

I am a DC-certified educator with over 12 years of international teaching experience in elementary classrooms, teaching ESL and the American Common Core curriculum. I have had much success as a private tutor to students 1:1 and in small groups, by getting to know my students' needs and working with them to develop individualized goals and a learning plans. My understanding of executive functioning challenges and other barriers to academic success informs my teaching approach so that I can find learning solutions that work for your learner.
