About Tim

I’m a highly experienced fundraiser, charity leader, and coach with over 20 years in the third sector. For the past 15 years, I’ve successfully run a charity sustained entirely through fundraising—without government funding. I’ve also founded two other charities from scratch and raised hundreds of thousands of pounds through trust applications, major donors, legacy giving, events, and community fundraising. My fundraising experience includes organising some bonkers events—like Britain’s biggest bungee jump—running group fundraising initiatives within communities, and filling in many successful grant applications. I’ve worked effectively with both small and large individual donors, building long-term relationships that support sustainable giving. Storytelling is a key strength of mine—I’m skilled at crafting compelling narratives across presentations, elevator pitches, videos, blogs, photos, and more. I know how to connect with audiences to inspire support and engagement. I understand the real-life challenges of fundraising and bring a strategic, practical, and encouraging approach to coaching. Whether you’re new to fundraising, preparing a grant bid, or leading a team with big ambitions, I’ll help you find clarity, build confidence, and achieve meaningful results.

About the lesson

I offer practical, tailored tutoring in fundraising strategy and skills, designed to support students, charity staff, volunteers, and early-career fundraisers. Whether you’re just starting out, shifting roles, or looking to grow your impact, I’ll help you develop the tools and confidence to fundraise effectively and ethically. Every session is grounded in your specific context. We’ll focus on your needs—whether that’s building a strategy from scratch, improving an existing campaign, or learning how to write a compelling grant application. I can help you draft, review, and strengthen real-life applications, proposals, or presentations, offering honest, constructive feedback and proven techniques. My teaching style is interactive, supportive, and rooted in real-world practice. I use case studies, exercises, and examples tailored to your setting to make learning engaging and immediately applicable. Lessons are typically 60 minutes long, but can be adjusted based on your availability or project requirements. I bring over 20 years of hands-on experience in fundraising and nonprofit leadership, including youth work, trust and foundation bids, major donor development, legacy giving, events, and supporter communications. I’m also a charity director and mentor with deep experience in coaching and strategic planning. These sessions are ideal for learners aged 16+, including students, charity professionals, volunteers, freelancers, and anyone working in or transitioning into the nonprofit world.
