• Tell us more about your subject. How did you develop an interest in this field?

  During my Class 10th, our school organised a career counselling session where I was introduced with the Chartered Accountancy course. I did a bit of research about the course, about the subjects in the commerce stream and chose to build my career around accounting and business. Accountancy became my favourite subject, I was doing it every single day, was enjoying it more than any other subject, getting balance sheets tallied used to give me immense satisfaction and happiness.
  
  Accountancy is all about understanding the operations of the business, recording the business transactions, analysing their performances, reporting the results to the stakeholders and much more. Since this subject has so much relevance in the practical world, I decided to pursue Chartered Accountancy course and worked so hard that gratefully I could clear all my exams in the first attempt and add CA prefix to my name.

• What or who is the motivation behind you choosing to teach & why?

  There was an activity in class 11th where the students had to teach a particular topic to the class and that was the first time when I realised that I could actually teach well. The teacher along with many students appreciated my teaching methodology and the examples I used to explain the concepts. After this activity, I was explaining the concepts or solving the doubts of my friends and that was actually very satisfying. After my class 12th, I decided to teach Accountancy to the students of Class XI and XII and surprisingly I was teaching 11 students in just a span of 3-4 months. Just helping students with their problems, explaining them the concepts in a more simplified way, giving them practical examples are some of the reasons to teach.
  
  I have always believed that there is no below average or above average student, this whole concept of categorising students, comparing them with each other is absolutely irrelevant and unnecessary, its' just that every student has his/her own pace of understanding and learning, and it is the job of the teachers to teach them accordingly. This motivates me to work harder with those students who have been categorised as average by this education system.

• How does your work help society?

  Teachers have the power to shape the young minds, educate the future generation of the country, make them better human beings; in short teachers are the backbone of an economy, real change makers in the world. I feel that my role as a teacher is to provide proper guidance to the students, give them quality education, try and inculcate such values so that they can be an asset for the society.

• If you had to think of a role model for your work, who do you think of & why?

  There are many people who inspire me, motivate me to work harder, but one person who is truly an inspiration for all the teachers is Sir Ranjitsinh Disale, who transformed the educational system through technology, encouraged the education of girls, proved the world that teachers can be the game changers and for his exceptional contribution, he is awarded with the Global Teacher Prize 2020. He is definitely my role model !

• Tell us about your hobbies outside teaching.

  My hobbies include reading books, playing badminton, playing Flute and watching cricket. Also, I love to spend some time learning new skills like making animated educational and motivational videos, video editing skills.

• Do you have an anecdote to tell us about your student or professional life?

  When I was in class 7th, my family was facing some financial problems so they were not able to deposit the school fees but since I have always been a good student, the manager sir of our school, the most respected personality, allowed me to continue my studies.
  
  So when I started teaching, almost 5 years after completing my schooling, guess who my first accounting student was, the son of our school manager sir. I was so glad and emotional about the fact that sir wanted me to teach his son. Then 12th boards happened and after the results got announced, I got a call from sir and his first words were" beta, I am so proud of you, thank you for teaching my son". His son got 95 marks in accounting (exactly what I got in my boards.)
