About Cathy

I am openminded, cultural conscious, having studied English, French, Turkish myself, I am passionate about language learning and teaching. Teaching has enriched my life too as everyday I am inspired by my students, they make me see things from different angle.

About the lesson

Learn Mandarin with a qualified native tutor from Beijing, very patient, all levels.

Having studied Turkish at SOAS and International Business in China, I am cultural conscious and open minded. I can provide you good insight into the Chinese culture, economics as well as historical backgrounds to certain events.

My teaching approach is communicative and student centred,
constantly adjusting teaching strategies to meet your specific learning expectations.

Many of my students who were stuck on intermediate level were able to move up to advanced level with my tutoring. I am particularly good at explaining complicated grammar points which can be frustrating if one wants to progress beyond the just survival level.

I have helped students pass their GCSE tests and HSK tests with very good scores, I have also helped students prepare their job interviews in Chinese and those who are travelling or working in China , I can help their brush up their Mandarin skills and also prep them for the Chinese local customs and culture.

I believe in building a solid foundation on the pronunciations and tones which helps boost student’s confidence. If you are frustrated about this, get in touch.

I can also help you with your classical Chinese which has different grammar to modern Chinese, proofread your dissertation and coursework.
