About Stella

My name is Stella. I come from Greece, Thessaloniki and I moved in the UK 33 years ago. I studied Classics and Archeology, and although I was planning to return back to my country to live and work, I realised that I liked living abroad and I’ve decided to build my life and family here
While I was studying, I was working in the Lifelong learning Service where I started teaching adults holiday Greek. In the meantime I started teaching Greek in the local community school, to children of Greek and Cypriot background. I continued teaching and I served as the Headteacher in the Greek school for 14 years.

I realised that teaching became a passion, as I had the opportunity to learn my own language better, I was enjoying meeting new people and teaching them the very basic of my language and our culture, to preparing students for their GCSE and their entry to university or simply gaining a qualification in Greek.
I’ve decided to gain additional qualifications in teaching and explore the Greek language further more, so this will be reflected on my teaching and the approach to my students.
Today, I am teaching the Greek language in colleges, privately, face to face and online and I am collaborating with schools in the UK to prepare and guide pupils to gain a qualification in the language; I am also a registered examiner

About the lesson

Graduate of Classics and training in teaching Greek as a foreign language, with teaching experience over 28 years Teaching in groups and one to one, minimum length of lesson 1 hour, covering all ages and abilities from beginners to A level.
Lessons are planned around the learners and according to their needs and expectations. Lots of practical activities, speaking, listening and games to reinforce learning and revision.

Deadly! Stella is one of the best tutors I've ever had. She is amazing at knowing exactly what level you're at with Greek, and is able to consistently provide resources and ability to help you reach that next level and make progress. I could not recommend Stella as a Greek tutor enough.

Matthew has the advantage of a Greek partner, so I believe his learning will continue smoothly as he’s having the chance to practice everyday and become more confident in using what he knows already and progress quicker

Details

My usual rate is £25 per hour. This amount will include preparation of material tailored to the learner’s needs and of course covering the zoom fee.
Although, the above price is the requested one, I’m open to discuss it and agree to a different one that both parties will be pleased with.
