About Sofia
Every student has the ability to surprise themselves by their learning potential, and it is my job to help students recognize and tap into that potential. Traditional school curriculum can leave many students feeling misunderstood and inadequate, but my experience teaching struggling learners has taught me that something as simple as presenting information in a new way is all that it takes to ensure that student's success. I have been a freelance tutor for children, a college teaching assistant, and a tutor at Richmond's READ center teaching free literacy classes to adult learners, so I have learned to adapt my knowledge in a multitude of ways to reach students of all ages and learning levels. I can't wait to meet you and get to know your personal learning needs!

I provide personalized assistance that is specific and relevant to the goals of all of my students, regardless of age! I have experience teaching English to all age groups, from young children to adult learners, so I am proficient in passing on information that is essential at all learning levels. I understand that English is not everyone's academic strength or top interest, so it is my goal to present information that feels challenging or "boring" to the student in forms and methods that interest them and come naturally to them. I aim to familiarize myself with the interests and learning styles of all my students so that I may create a learning environment that is engaging and productive. Lesson plans vary based on student level and personality, but they are all more personal and comprehensive than what would be taught in a classroom, with a special focus on integrating other disciplines that the student shows interest/proficiency in.
