About the lesson

My lessons are designed specifically for those who want to improve their Mandarin and have a deeper understanding of the language and Chinese logic with confidence and ease.

Beginner to Intermediate Level:
I focus on building a strong foundation in reading, listening, and pronunciation. With four years of professional drama and acting experience in Beijing, I was trained in a systematic approach to Mandarin pronunciation. I’ll help you master tones, achieve smooth rhythm, and speak with clear, natural, and pleasant-sounding Mandarin.

Advanced Level:
We dive deeper into Writing, Chinese culture, classical poetry, literary texts, and Chinese history. Drawing on the strong liberal arts training I received at FDFZ (Shanghai High School Affiliated to Fudan University) — one of China’s top high schools renowned for humanities education — I teach these topics in an engaging and meaningful way. Students will not only improve their language skills but also truly understand and appreciate Chinese culture.

Advanced+ level:
For students aiming for the highest level of fluency and cultural sophistication, we explore classical Chinese literature, advanced rhetoric, and in-depth historical and cultural analysis. Drawing on my academic background in sociology, which I studied both in China and the United States, I guide students in critically reading authentic Chinese media. This includes mastering how to read Chinese newspapers and current affairs articles, decoding nuanced political language, and uncovering the deeper cultural, historical, and ideological meanings behind the text. Students will develop the ability to analyze complex socio-political topics with clarity, depth, and the refined expression expected of a highly proficient heritage speaker.
