About Ram
I am a driven, focused and conscientious tutor and software engineer who is passionate about education! I have both strong academic and practical industry experience both in addition to my years of experience as a tutor - I currently work as a software engineer at Amazon in their cloud computing division, Amazon Web Services - What's-more, I have a Computer Science degree from The University of Durham - I have completed A-Levels in Maths, Further Maths, Physics, Chemistry and Biology and have extensive teaching and tutoring experience including: - King James I Academy Secondary School: I was with the school for a year and ran computer science workshops and utilised the BBC Micro:Bit and Raspberry Pi hardware for a range of pupils. The workshops were a huge success, inspiring many pupils to pursue Computer Science and programming further - Explore Learning: I have professional experience with the 'No. 1 Private Tuition Centre' Explore Learning, privately tutoring pupils ages 4 to 14. Helping children unlock their full potential and to become fearless, confident learners through a unique approach involving a combination of digital and physical resources, tailored tracking of pupils' progress and regular meetings with parents. Tuition was in Maths, English and 11 Plus. - CS Into Schools: This was an integrated teaching course as part of my university degree. Here we learned and practised the various approaches to learning and education. We also explored theory including pedagogy, psychology and teaching standards, and had the opportunity to run classes for pupils of all age groups and backgrounds from a range of schools across the county. I also have professional experience in the film, TV, and theatre industry as a creative, having proudly worked with Netflix, ITV, The National Theatre, and won the Endemol-Shine Talent Award for the project 'The Distants' which premiered on London Live TV. I also teach and run drama classes both privately and with fantastic, highly respected companies such as Perform and have worked extensively with the prestigious National Youth Theatre. Since my undergraduate studies, I have regularly been tutoring across various platforms, mediums and companies including private one-to-one tuition, online tutoring, in tuition centres, and also on a voluntary basis. My approach involves tailoring to the pupil's needs, abilities and identifying their strengths and weaknesses. My best qualities include empathy, patience, conscientiousness and never writing a pupil off!
