About Edie
Perhaps I am an unlikely candidate for a teacher, given that I left school following my GCSEs and vowed never to return. As a teenager, I found being inside a classroom immensely stifling. It was a place in which exam results took top precedence, and my curiosity was quashed with little regard to the despondency this induced.
I eventually embarked on my A-Levels alone, I sat the exams as an independent candidate and was almost entirely self-taught. I did not do as well as I had hoped and missed out on my university offers, but it gave me a huge insight into teaching methodology, the importance of instruction, and constraint necessary to succeed within the education system that I had felt so disaffected by. In my efforts, I discovered that warmth and flare that I had valued so profoundly as a school-aged pupil was subsidiary (albeit important) to the ability to teach. Indeed, my lowest A-Level grade was in English, the subject I had planned to do at university. My love of the subject made it difficult for me to stick to the syllabus, and concentrate on learning exam techniques, though I now know how important these are.
I resat my exams the following year, and achieved the necessary grades to attend UCL for a degree in Comparative Literature. I have just graduated with First Class Honours, and I made the Dean's list for academic excellence. It is somewhat of an underdog story, but I truly believe that great results can be achieved by anyone given the right help

I have previously worked in a bilingual primary school as a classroom assistant and French teacher and possess a range of experience within the childcare sector, from children aged 2-16.
I have also worked in a Montessori setting, and am attuned to the holistic requirements of tutoring.
I have recently completed a degree in Comparative Literature and hold a French FHEQ Level 7 certificate.
I am able to teach English and French up to and including A-Level.
My lessons tend to be 60 minutes, including a 5 minute rest break.
