About Audrey

Hoi Ching (Audrey) Sung is in the second year of a BMus in Interdisciplinary Music Studies with a minor in Composition, studying with James Lowrie. Her music has been performed in various venues and events, such as Walter Hall and “Verses and Voices” organized by Written by Women. In 2025, Audrey was awarded both the Arthur Plettner Scholarship and the Richard Lorweth Thurman Jazz Scholarship. As a violinist, Audrey has played with the Toronto Symphony Youth Orchestra, University of Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Cathedral Bluff Symphony Orchestra.

About the lesson

What do I do in lessons? We will work on some work together after I introduce new topics. After class, there will be assignments (optional) but it is encouraged to do Theory: Basic theory: - basic knowledge of notes and intervals, rhythms and musical form. -If students are planning to take RCM exams, we might work more with RCM textbook and other exercises. Harmony and counterpoint: - RCM 9-ARCT materials are used Composition: We will work on some score analysis, and different types of writings. Suggestions and advice on your own pieces are provided.

Deadly! Audrey is very clear with her explanations, and shares her knowledge with prepared material, I found she is also a great teacher to discuss importance of style, timbre, some of the contemporary late 20th century, 21st with ease.
