About Vashu

I am a concert pianist and piano educator with 17 years of musical training, currently preparing for the LTCL (Licentiate of Trinity College London) performance diploma.

My training has been supported by masterclasses with internationally recognised pianists including Leonel Morales, Leo de María, Ji-Hye Jung, Marouan Benabdallah, Douglas Finch, Daniele Buccio and Karl Lutchmayer.

I have performed extensively in India and internationally, including at the Mozarteum University Salzburg International Summer Academy, where I was selected with a full scholarship in 2024 and 2025. I won Second Prize and Special Mention at the Princess Lalla Meryem International Piano Competition in 2025, and have also performed with Candlelight Concerts by Fever, at the Echo Summer Academy in Budapest, and for the United Nations Holocaust Remembrance and Education programme.

I have also performed and worked as an accompanist with music societies at multiple University of Delhi colleges, and have experience in both formal classical performance and collaborative music-making.

As a teacher, I combine serious classical piano training with a practical, personalised approach. I teach students who want to develop genuine musical ability — whether they are starting from the beginning, preparing for ABRSM or Trinity examinations, working towards competitions and auditions, or pursuing advanced performance.

About the lesson

Serious piano training, tailored to the student

My lessons are designed to develop students into independent, confident and musical pianists, rather than simply teaching them to reproduce notes.

For beginners and children, I focus on building the right foundations from the start: posture, technique, rhythm, note-reading, listening, coordination and musical expression.

For students preparing for ABRSM or Trinity examinations, lessons are structured around the demands of the relevant grade while developing the underlying musicianship needed to perform the repertoire convincingly.

Depending on the student's level and goals, lessons can include:

Technique
Scales, arpeggios, exercises, coordination, articulation, tone production and technical control.

Classical Repertoire
Carefully selected repertoire appropriate to the student's level, interests and goals, with attention to phrasing, style, structure and interpretation.

ABRSM & Trinity Preparation
Repertoire, technical requirements, sight-reading, aural skills, examination strategy and performance preparation.

Sight-Reading & Musicianship
Developing fluent reading, rhythmic understanding, ear training and the ability to understand music rather than simply memorise it.

Performance Training
Memory, concentration, interpretation, stage confidence and performance under pressure.

Competition & Audition Preparation
For serious students, lessons can focus on repertoire selection, interpretation, technical refinement and preparing performances for competitions, auditions and other high-level settings.

My teaching philosophy is simple: examinations and competitions are useful goals, but the ultimate objective is to develop a pianist who understands the music and can perform it independently.

Vashu sir is one of the best young pianists in India, as of now. With a number of prizes to his name, be it national or international competitions, he stays grounded and humble.
He understands the students very well and customizes the lesson plans based on their strengths and weaknesses.
Vashu sir does not promise immediate results, but if one follows his method of practice diligently, then I'm sure that person would see major improvement in a couple of months. His sound knowledge of music theory is an added advantage because he breaks down each composition and explains exactly why the composition sounds that way.
He is jolly and very approachable also. I have had a great experience with Vashu sir so far and I'm very grateful to have an instructor like him.
