About Frances
About Me
With a rich background as a Systems Engineer and over a decade of experience in enterprise-level information technology services, I bring a unique blend of technical expertise and communication skills to the table. My journey began with a BA in Communications, complemented by a minor in Journalism, laying the groundwork for my ability to translate complex technical concepts into understandable language. This educational foundation has been pivotal in my career, enabling me to effectively communicate and collaborate across various teams and projects.
My professional experience is marked by significant roles in high-security data centers, including SWITCH in Las Vegas and Cologuard in Brooklyn, NY. These positions have not only honed my skills in managing and securing sensitive data but also in understanding the critical importance of robust web security measures in today’s digital landscape.
Additionally, my work has brought me into close collaboration with notable figures such as former New York Governor Paterson and Independence Party President Frank McKay. These experiences have enriched my perspective on the intersection of technology, security, and the broader societal and political implications.
This blend of technical acumen, communication skills, and high-level professional experiences positions me uniquely as a tutor in web security and encryption. My approach to teaching is informed by real-world applications and a deep understanding of the critical nature of protecting digital information in an increasingly interconnected world.

About Your Lesson
In the dynamic world of web security, staying informed and adept is not just an option; it’s a necessity. My approach as a tutor is rooted in the belief that mastering web security, encryption, and password hygiene requires more than just theoretical knowledge—it demands hands-on experience and a deep understanding of real-world applications.
My Teaching Method and Techniques
I employ a blend of interactive learning, practical exercises, and real-life case studies to ensure that the knowledge you gain is not only comprehensive but also applicable. My sessions are structured around active participation, encouraging questions, and fostering a space where curiosity leads to discovery. I believe in breaking down complex concepts into digestible, manageable pieces, making the learning process accessible and engaging for everyone.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical lesson begins with a brief overview of the day’s topic, followed by an in-depth exploration of the subject matter, which includes:
• Introduction to key concepts and principles.
• Hands-on exercises to apply what you’ve learned in real-life scenarios.
• Discussion of case studies to illustrate the impact of web security practices.
• Q&A session to address any uncertainties and solidify your understanding.
I tailor each lesson to the needs and levels of my students, ensuring that each session is relevant and challenging enough to push their boundaries.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
What distinguishes me is my commitment to not just teaching but empowering. With a background in IT consulting, I bring a wealth of practical experience and insights into the latest trends and threats in web security. I prioritize creating a learning environment that is not only informative but also supportive and inspiring.
Who the Lessons Are For
My lessons are designed for individuals of all levels, from beginners who are just starting to navigate the complexities of web security to advanced learners looking to deepen their expertise. Whether you’re a student pursuing a degree in information technology, a professional looking to enhance your skill set, or simply someone interested in protecting your digital footprint, my lessons offer valuable knowledge and skills that are crucial in today’s digital age.
Together, we will embark on a journey to demystify web security and equip you with the tools and confidence needed to protect yourself and your data in the online world.

Hi there! I’m a 57-year-old grandmother who recently decided to make a big career change from being a part-time school crossing guard to working in a doctor’s office as an office admin. Feeling anxious about my lack of computer knowledge, I knew I needed to get up to speed fast. That’s when I found Frances’s flyer and took her 3-lesson computer basics course.
For the first lesson, Frances walked me through the basics of computers. I appreciated how thorough she was without talking down to me. She explained the different parts, how to turn it on and off, and the essentials of navigating around (like how to change my settings, etc.) By the end of that first lesson I already way more comfortable using my PC, which was a huge relief.
During next lesson she covered internet and email basics, aka browsing “the web.” Frances went over internet safety and security, showed me how to use a search engine, and even helped me set up my new work email including how to send and receive emails, attach pics and files, and more.
For my final lesson, she focused on practical applications and troubleshooting. Frances showed me how to use basic software programs, organize my files, and handle common tech issues. Her practical tips and step-by-step approach made a world of difference. I now feel prepared to tackle minor tech problems on my own, which is a big boost for my new job.
Frances managed to take something I was nervous and insecure about and actually make it FUN! She was friendly, patient, and most importantly, incredibly knowledgeable. Each lesson built on the previous one, and I left feeling more confident and prepared for my new job.
I highly recommend Frances’s computer basics lessons to anyone looking to improve their computer skills, especially if you’re starting from scratch like me. Frances’s guidance will definitely help you feel more confident and capable.
