About Archie

I enjoy tutoring because no two lessons are ever the same.

I know my subjects thoroughly, with two Oxbridge degrees, and a doctorate (PhD) in English, and A-Levels in the others. I am a good planner, can work under pressure, and can express myself clearly. I've got lots of teaching experience under my belt: I qualified as an English teacher and and taught in an Indian Middle School; I've also done private tutoring in Hong Kong. There's no one way of doing my job, so I'm interested in adapting myself to the needs and the learning style of the person I'm teaching.

When not teaching or studying, I spend most of my time writing for various publications and playing sport, though I am sadly yet to tutor a fellow Arsenal fan.

It is a pleasure to write in support of Archie Cornish's application to tutor with this site. Archie is an extremely gifted student of English literature, with a wide knowledge of related humanities disciplines. He has superb logical and verbal skills, and both speaks and writes with clarity, wit, and force. He has considerable experience in the tutoring line, which is not surprising because he is a natural teacher: sharp-sighted, patient, and organised. I have supervised him for a year on his master's course here in Cambridge, and can attest with conviction to his quality. You won't find a better tutor.
