About Holly
I’m a native German speaker who also studied German academically in England before living and studying in Munich for six years. Having experienced German both as a learner and through full cultural immersion, I understand the challenges and rewards of mastering the language.
As a conversational tutor, I focus on engaging, relevant discussions that build confidence and natural speaking patterns while introducing students to German culture. My aim is to make learning German exciting, practical, and personally meaningful.

My approach is conversation-led, structured, and culturally grounded.
As both a native German speaker and someone who studied German academically before living in Munich for six years, I understand language from two perspectives: how it feels to speak it naturally, and how it feels to learn it step by step.
In my lessons, I focus on:
Active conversation from the beginning – speaking is the fastest way to build confidence and fluency.
Structured spontaneity – conversations are natural, but guided around themes (daily life, current events, travel, work, culture, literature, etc.).
Pattern recognition – instead of memorising isolated rules, we identify language patterns that make grammar intuitive and usable.
Cultural immersion – I integrate aspects of German culture, humour, mindset, and everyday life into lessons so students understand not just the language, but the context in which it’s used.
Confidence building – mistakes are part of the process. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable experimenting and improving.
My goal is to help students develop natural speaking rhythms while building a deeper understanding of how German works in real life.

I know Holly not only as a tutor, but as my daughter, and I’ve had the privilege of watching her grow up bilingual in both English and German. From an early age, she was immersed in both languages, speaking German at home and developing a deep cultural understanding alongside her language skills.
Holly has always excelled academically in German, achieving excellent results at both GCSE and A Level. She also successfully completed the B2 certification at the Goethe-Institut, demonstrating her advanced proficiency. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Arts in Art History at LMU Munich — an achievement that reflects not only her language fluency, but her ability to study and thrive in a German academic environment. In addition, Holly has been living in Germany permanently for more than six years, giving her an authentic, up-to-date understanding of the language and culture in everyday and professional contexts.
What I appreciate most about Holly’s teaching approach is her patience, clarity, and enthusiasm. Having mastered the language herself at both school and university level, she understands curriculum requirements as well as the practical side of becoming confident in speaking and writing German. She explains grammar clearly, supports students step by step, and builds their confidence in a very natural and encouraging way.
One experience that stands out is seeing her help younger students who initially felt intimidated by German. Through her calm, structured approach, she quickly helped them feel at ease, and their confidence grew noticeably within a short period of time.
Holly combines native-level fluency, academic excellence, and real cultural immersion. I have no doubt she will inspire and support her students to achieve their very best.View more recommendations
