About Elisabeth
Hello, my name is Elisabeth, and I am a credentialed middle school teacher with a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have experience supporting students in developing strong literacy, reading, and writing skills, and I work with students every day to build their confidence as readers and help them express their ideas clearly through writing.
My background in English Language Arts allows me to support students in understanding a wide range of texts, from Shakespeare to modern literature. I am especially passionate about helping students move beyond basic comprehension and begin to analyze, interpret, and thoughtfully respond to what they read.
I am known for creating a supportive and structured learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and take academic risks. I understand that every student learns differently, so I take the time to adapt my approach to meet individual needs while maintaining high expectations.
As both a classroom teacher and a tutor, I focus on practical strategies that students can immediately apply in their schoolwork. My goal is not only to help students improve their skills, but also to help them feel more confident and capable in their learning.
I look forward to supporting students as they grow into stronger, more independent readers and writers.

My lessons are designed to help students become confident, thoughtful readers and writers by breaking complex skills into clear, manageable steps. I focus on literacy, reading comprehension, and literary analysis, supporting students as they engage with a range of texts from Shakespeare to modern literature.
My teaching approach is highly structured and student-centered. I use strategies that make thinking visible, such as sentence frames and guided discussion, to help students move beyond surface-level responses. One of my core methods includes helping students organize their thinking through clear writing structures, so they can explain their ideas with precision and confidence.
A typical lesson begins with a short warm-up to activate prior knowledge, followed by direct instruction where I model a specific skill, such as analyzing a character, identifying themes, or breaking down complex passages. Students then practice the skill with support, and gradually move toward more independent work. Each lesson includes targeted feedback so students understand both what they are doing well and how to improve.
What sets me apart as a tutor is my experience as a middle school classroom teacher and my ability to meet students exactly where they are. I understand the expectations students are facing in school, and I provide practical strategies that directly support their success in the classroom. I also prioritize building confidence, especially for students who may feel unsure about reading or writing.
My lessons are best suited for middle and high school students, particularly those in grades 5–12, who are looking to strengthen their reading comprehension, improve their writing, and develop stronger skills in analyzing literature. I work with a range of learners, including students who need additional support as well as those who are ready to deepen and extend their thinking.
