About Chloe

I am a young and enthusiastic History teacher, who enjoys helping history come alive and accessible for all young people. I am passionate about the past, books, literature and current affairs.

I am qualified in History as my core subject, but also have experience teaching Modern Studies, RMPS, English and Literacy and Numeracy at Primary level.

Since the pandemic, I have been tutoring online. This has allowed students to learn in the comfort and safety of their own home. This year has been successful, with many of my tutees achieving As in their provisional SQA assessment grades!

My experiences so far are not limited to the classroom- I have lifeguarded at Camp Walden in Michigan in summer 2015 and summer 2017, I have been a GirlGuide Leader in Edinburgh for four years, a debating coach for Debate Mate and a volunteer for Oxfam. I believe in providing the very best for young people and l endeavour to do so every day.

About the lesson

I ensure each session is deliberately tailored to suit the learning needs of each young person and that I get it right for every child.

The initial session helps me to identify the individual strengths and weaknesses of a student, which then allows me to create future resources and lessons that will aid the development of the tutee.

Each learner knows that the session goes at their pace and that questions can be asked at any time. My friendly approach enables young people to feel empowered and confident.

Sessions for BGE- Advanced Higher usually last for one hour. Primary-aged pupils who need support with literacy and mathematics can have up to one hour, or less if that is what is desired.

I have an MA in Social History from the University of Edinburgh and I graduated with my PGDE (teaching diploma) in 2019. I have been teaching ever since including in schools in the Highlands, in Edinburgh and in Glasgow. I also have a PVG, issued from City of Edinburgh Council, Highland Council and my current school. I achieve good results both inside and outside of my classroom and look forward to helping your child achieve their very best!
