About Crystal
Having taught beginner Chinese language students, I am well aware of the challenges they face with the difference between ideographic and phonetic writing, especially in mastering Hanyu Pinyin pronunciation.
To address this problem, I use my knowledge of phonetics for in-person instruction, facilitating their understanding of sound pronunciation and helping them relate character structure to syllables upon mastering character pronunciation.
With Mandarin Chinese as my native language and a college minor in Academic Chinese Studies, I am equipped to tutor students proficient in Chinese writing. Once you grasp the text's structure, language usage becomes analogous.
The course focuses on immersive listening, speaking, and writing exercises, complemented by engaging topic discussions that delve into traditional Chinese culture, society, and the distinctions and similarities between Eastern and Western languages.

1. For beginners
the most important thing is to get them interested in Chinese, in that case:
(1) Every class will take 30 minutes, so students won't be too tired.
(2) Start with simple words and the words that you are most exposed to, such as the names of common animals, fruits, and transportation.
2. Also, I teach students at a higher level, who need to improve their writing skills in Chinese, each lesson for these students will take an hour.
The majority of the program is taught in Chinese, in order to encourage students to practice more Chinese and to build a good language environment for them.
There is no age limitation since it's never too early or too late to begin your language study, so if you are interested, please connect me.
