About Michael
Hi! I'm Michael and I am a 20 year old Undergraduate at the University of Manchester, where I study a Bachelor of Arts in Drama and English Literature. I have loved Drama since I was young, but it was only in my GCSEs where I started to really love English - the effect that a great teacher has is amazing.
I have always loved helping people, which started when I benefited to such a huge extent from my own tutoring sessions! I went from having hardly legible handwriting, unable to write convincing or effective essays and being (to be honest) quite hopeless at maths, to achieving high grades at GCSEs and A levels!
Unfortunately, due to living in London and going to University in Manchester, my sessions would largely have to be online, as I move around the country a lot. However, my old math tutor did online sessions with me and improved my maths substantially, so I hope and believe that this will not hinder the sessions.

I graduated from St Paul's School in London with two A* (Drama and Geography) and one D3 (English Lit.) at A level, as well as an A* in a practical, drama based EPQ. I now study at the University of Manchester, undertaking a BA in Drama and English Literature.
While I don't have much experience in professional tutoring, I have helped my classmates in subjects like English Lit. GCSE, where, with my help, he ended up achieving a 9. Additionally, I have a younger sister, who I have consistently helped throughout her time at school, where she is not entering her GCSE examination year. I also regularly am asked to proofread the essays that my peers have written, and I have been doing this since I was in my GCSEs.
My lessons would look at the individual, what they are struggling with and how we can work to find a solution, formula, or fun way of dealing with it. The best tutors that I have had in the past have always managed to make the sessions entertaining. For a similar reason, I don't think that lessons should take much more than an hour, as people's attention spans tend to start to fade severely around then. The goal would be to get the best results in the shortest amounts of time, not simply plodding through relentlessly.
I would be most comfortable working with someone who was studying for their GCSEs, though I am more than happy to work with A level students, I would simply need a bit more preparation time as they are often more complex texts that I would need to dissect prior to the sessions.
Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the teacher
I have gotten help from Michael at a University level and through various assignments. Michael was incredibly helpful when I worked with him! He is patient and has a very interactive way of explaining things. When one concept would confuse me he was very helpful in explaining it in various ways until I understood it. It also helped because he knows a lot about what he is talking about! He has helped me to learn French in a way that applied directly to my life and also helped me in my university level essays. His recommendations and suggestions were brilliant and elevated my writing style by adding to my ideas, instead of trying to change them! I couldn't recommend him enough!
