About Jemima

Bonjour ! Je suis Jemima, une professeure de français certifiée DALF C2, passionnée par helping learners make real progress in French. I lived in France for over 4 years and hold a Bachelor's degree in French Linguistics from Université Lumière Lyon 2 in France.

For over 3 years, I have been teaching children, teenagers and adults at different levels, from complete beginners to advanced learners. I also specialise in TEF/ TCF Canada, DELF and DALF preparation, helping students prepare with a clear and structured approach.

My lessons are personalised to your level, goal and learning pace. I'll help you build a learning plan that works for you. My goal is simple: take you from “Je comprends” to “Je parle.”

About the lesson

My teaching approach centres on communication over memorisation.

Grammar matters, but if you can't use a language to speak, listen and understand, knowing the rules isn't enough.

Every lesson is adapted to your level and goals. Beginners learn practical French they can use from day one, while students preparing for DELF, DALF, TEF/TCF Canada or school exams get targeted practice and feedback.

I'm also learning my 5th language, so I understand the frustration of a rule that won't stick or a sound you can't quite get right. I'm not just teaching the process I'm living it too.

Whether you're a child, a student or an adult learning for travel, work or personal goals, we'll find an approach that works for you.

Coco Chanel is a character that fully represents the French culture. She lived from 1883 to 1971. She was a businesswoman and a fashion designer. She is the founder of the very popular brand "Chanel"

A typical French person loves wine and baguette. You can check on the internet. An image of a French person is typically a glass of wine, on one hand, a cigarette on the other and a baguette(French bread).
Why does speaking this language matter to you?
French is one of the top 5 languages in the world. In Africa French is the most spoken language. Also most international organizations like the EU, OAU, and UN have French as an official language. French is also a love language as perceived by many speakers and learners of the language.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
The most difficult part of learning French is the grammar rules. French can have complex rules and exceptions to rules. However, if you have the right teacher who takes it step by step with consistent practice you will learn it.

The best way to learn a language is to speak. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Take classes on oral and conversational French. Try to practice with your French-speaking friends. Allow them to correct when you make a mistake. These are some of the tips that helped me in learning French.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Travelling and mixing with native speakers have really helped my language skill. I speak five languages thanks to my exposure to different languages and countries. On the other side, technology has made it easy for you to find friends anywhere in the world and chat with them. No need to travel far to learn.
