About Kine Cathrine

When I dance is when I feel that I get to express myself in the best possible way. In my own dance, I often improvise based on emotions, and the choreographies I create often have a personal touch that makes the material recognisable.

I teach with a smile and high energy, while at the same time I believe it is important to see the student's needs. I well remember my first dance teacher who I felt actually saw me, and who inspired me to do what I enjoyed. One of my biggest goal in life is to help someone, like she helped me.

When I wrote my bachelor's thesis, I researched how dance can help people with social or psychological problems, and I took with me a lot of information that has helped me in structuring workshops and how to get to know your students. I want to be a teacher who both sees the student and helps them on the way to believing in themself further in life, whether it is in dance or somewhere else entirely.

About the lesson

Recommended 1 hour a week (possibly 40 min, with 20 min warm-up on your own). Teaching for ages 6-18, basic and intermediate level.

I often draw inspiration from several styles, usually with a background in jazz, show dance or contemporary, unless specifics are mentioned. For me, it is important to focus on expression, self-confidence and radiance, while technique is fundamental to becoming a better dancer.

Extensive experience in show dance, musicals, burlesque and acrobatics.

Bachelor in Dance and Choreography / Falmouth University, UK (Contemporary, Ballet)
Cheerleading - 4 seasons (national competition, level 1 and 2)
Musical theater - 4 seasons (4 showcases on stage, 2 showcases online during the pandemic)
Gymnastics coach, Be Sporty Oslo - 1 season (2-3 years and 4-5 years)
