About David

- What kind of experience do you have?

Taught English to A level. Mathematics taught to GCSE. History Taught to GCSE. 30 years of tutoring in London many of those within the Hindu and Moslem community. Taught in mainstream and special schools in Lambeth and Croydon.

- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?

Current to 2014. Present legislation makes it impossible for an individual to get a DRB, you have to go through an organisation and private tutors are not required to have one(??).There are also no requirement to have one every year. some places have one every year most every 3 years. I teach many pupils whose parents will vouch for my integrity.

- Where and with whom did you train?

Degree was from St Davids University Lampeter. Many courses through the years in English as a second language, Maths and English. I have been involved in professional training of other teachers and support staff.

- Do you belong to any professional organisations?

NasUwt. National Autistic Society.

- Tell me about some of your current students.

Have taught for 38 years . Current students are studying for entrance in Wisons school, Wallington county and St Olaves. Have taught for Eton and other major public schools.Also for IGCSE, GCSE Maths and English.Also tutor pupils with Autism and learning difficulties.

I have a realistic view of the capabilities of pupils and will give a real idea of their capabilities.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I teach mathematics to GCSE level and English to degree level. I also teach History to GCSE. Also tuition for 11+ and general for improvement, particularly with special needs pupils.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

BA English, Maths diploma, A levels in History RE and English.TEFL certificate

- How much do you charge?

In 2016/17 20 pounds. Tuition area has to be within the -South Croydon - Purley corridor.Will work in surrounding areas eg Purley, Caterham.Kenley Materials usually provided

- Where do you teach?

I go to pupils homes. CRB registered (see note). Croydon ,Purley, , Caterham and all areas around in South Croydon . I live in Kenley, just South of Purley. .

- When are you available?

Evenings after 4.30 also Sat Mornings.until 1 oclock. Available during most holidays. During the day for supply in SEN environments on a self-contracted basis. Also for adults in literacy and numeracy

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

5-16 +. Specialist in reading and learning difficulties also in Dyscalculia. Have had experience in a school situation 11-16, though have taught primary Special Needs.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

GCSE- Maths to foundation level only on the new syllabus from 2017, English, History A level English, History 11+ SATS at KS2. Common entrance and any other exams including ESL exams.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

I tutor hard and expect hard work in return. All delivered with humour and a desire to get pupils to learn for learning's sake not just for an exam.Though passing an exam is important it is only ever the beginning of the journey.
