I take a supportive and personalized approach to tutoring, focusing on helping students feel confident in their abilities while also improving their skills. Because I’ve recently gone through advanced English classes myself, I understand the challenges students face and explain concepts in a way that feels clear and relatable rather than overwhelming. I emphasize building strong fundamentals in reading comprehension, essay structure, and critical thinking, while also encouraging students to develop their own voice in writing.
In a typical lesson, I like to start by identifying what the student is currently working on or struggling with—whether that’s an essay, assigned reading, or general writing skills. From there, we break things down step-by-step. For writing, this might include brainstorming ideas, organizing thoughts, improving clarity, and editing together. For reading, we focus on understanding themes, analyzing passages, and strengthening interpretation skills. I always make lessons interactive so students are actively thinking and practicing rather than just listening.
What sets me apart is my empathy and patience. As a student myself, I know how frustrating English can feel at times, so I aim to create a comfortable environment where students feel supported and not judged. I also focus on explaining the “why” behind everything, so students don’t just complete assignments—they actually understand how to improve long-term.
My lessons are best suited for elementary through middle school students, as well as early high school students who want extra support in English. This includes help with reading comprehension, essay writing, grammar, and overall confidence in the subject.
