About Ralph

My name is Ralph and I’ve been playing piano for most of my life. I received a distinction in my Grade 8 Piano in March 2024, and I also play multiple other instruments including clarinet and saxophone to a similar standard. I’ve been taught classical piano for 9 years by Sandie Bornet, but throughout the years have taken it upon myself to learn improvisation, which is my personal favourite style of playing. I’ve played keys in the Edinburgh Academy Big Band since 2021, which has been immensely helpful for my technique. I’m just leaving school now and feel that a tutoring job would be beneficial for me, since it’s something I’d highly enjoy and already have experience in. If you’d prefer to have 30 minute sessions instead of the standard hour ones, these would be £12 per lesson.

About the lesson

I’m more than happy to tutor classical piano from grades 1-4 whether it’s in preparation for ABRSM or Trinity exams, or even just for fun. I’m also specialised in improvisational piano, and would love to pass on my skills in that if that’s what you’re interested in learning. The lessons would be extremely flexible, as I’m committed to helping others learn when they have so many other commitments, I’ve been there. I’m also wary of pricing so I’m happy to offer modestly-priced lessons. I’m based in Trinity, Edinburgh, however am happy to teach in-person around the Lothian area. I’m also up for online lessons if that’s what you’d prefer. I’ve had experience tutoring piano voluntarily for a few years now, and would love to continue this throughout 2025.
