About Sloane
I am a piano tutor with 6 years of teaching experience and a BM in Sacred Music focused on Piano and Organ. My teaching blends classical training with early American piano styles such as ragtime, stride, and early jazz. I work with school-aged learners and adults who want to explore these rich traditions. Lessons focus on rhythm, coordination, and expressive phrasing. I guide students through patterns, improvisation, and style-specific techniques. My approach balances clear instruction with fun, practical exercises. I use real examples from historical pianists to illustrate techniques. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s goals and skill level. I provide patient, encouraging feedback to help learners grow. My goal is to develop both technical ability and musical confidence. I focus on guiding students to compose and arrange original piano music. Lessons cover songwriting, melody writing, harmonization, and thematic development. Students also learn to build intros, outros, and seamless musical transitions. My teaching combines structured guidance with creative freedom. I work with The Therapy Seeker and The Jazz Pianist to help them achieve composition goals. Lessons include chord progression practice, motif development, and improvisation. Feedback is practical, positive, and encouraging. Each session strengthens both technical and creative skills. Students learn to organize ideas into complete, expressive pieces. I guide them through composition exercises that build confidence and independence. Lessons balance musical theory with hands-on practice. Together, we bring your musical ideas to life. You’ll gain the tools to compose your musical legacy.
