About Henriette
As an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford and a Lecturer at the University of London, I bring over twenty years of experience teaching academic writing at leading UK universities. Alongside my academic career, I contribute literary journalism and criticism to major broadsheets including the Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Observer, and The Economist.
Writing well is not simply about correctness — it is about clarity of thought, confidence of voice, and strength of argument.
I support students and writers with:
Undergraduate, Master’s and PhD dissertations
Structuring complex arguments
Literature reviews and theoretical framing
Refining style and academic voice
Cultural commentary and opinion pieces
Book reviews and long-form essays
Preparing work for submission to journals and broadsheets
My lessons are focused, intellectually rigorous, and highly personalised. In our sessions, we work closely on developing your ideas, strengthening structure, and refining language so that your writing becomes both analytically sharp and stylistically confident.
Whether you are aiming for a first-class degree, completing a doctoral thesis, or preparing an article for publication, I offer high-level expertise in a supportive and collaborative environment.
If you would like, I can also add a short, practical sentence about lesson format (online, feedback on drafts, structured sessions, etc.), which can help conversion on Superprof.
what should i write in about me section
For Superprof, the “About Me” section should feel more personal and human than the profile description. The profile presents your credentials; the “About Me” builds trust.
Given your senior academic background and media presence, the key is:
authority + approachability + intellectual warmth.
Here is a version tailored to you:
About Me
I am a university lecturer, researcher and literary journalist with a long-standing career in both academia and the public intellectual sphere. I currently teach at the University of London and am an Honorary Research Fellow at the University of Oxford.
My academic work focuses on literature, ethics and critical theory, and I have spent over twenty years teaching students how to write with clarity, depth and intellectual confidence. I care deeply about helping writers find their voice while maintaining rigour and precision.
Alongside my university teaching, I write for publications such as the Times Literary Supplement, The Guardian, The Observer and The Economist. This dual experience — academic and journalistic — allows me to support both scholarly and public-facing writing.
I am trilingual (French, English and Dutch) and have worked extensively in translation and publishing. I understand how challenging writing can feel at advanced levels — and how transformative it is when ideas truly click.
Above all, I believe strong writing is a form of thinking. My aim is to create a thoughtful, encouraging space where you can develop your ideas with confidence and ambition.
