About Lise
This academic year is my 10th enrolled as a university student of English literature, so at this point I've built up a broad understanding of the development of English literature and a large repetoire of fun facts to make the texts come alive. I believe in demystifying literary texts and giving students the courage to trust their own instincts, while giving them the tools and vocabulary to support their analyses and build convincing arguments.
I am in the last year of my English PhD specialising in contemporary literature, but teach as far back at the seventeenth century at undergraduate level. I hold a BA (Hons) in English Language and Literature from Oxford, an MA in European Culture and Thought from UCL, and have experience as a freelance writer as well as from working on museum catalogues and in modern art curation.
