About Brook
In terms of my qualifications, I have a First Class BSc in Psychology accredited by the BPS, a Level 4 Counselling Certificate, and currently I am enrolled with Middlesex university on the DCPsych in Counselling Psychology, specialising in Existential Psychotherapy, Psychodynamics and CBT. I am offering tutoring in Psychology and Philosophy, specialising in critical thinking and existentialism applied to psychology. With experience in delivering educational workshops to students and staff in academic settings, creating psychoeducational resources and helping train up new young professionals within the field of mental health, my specialism is taking complex topics and breaking them down to make them accessible, engaging and meaningful.
As a trainee counselling psychologist, the three pillars of my work is research, theory and practice. Working with me means you will get a point of view that considers all three.

For me, learning is a collaborative process. The teacher does not just 'give' knowledge to students, but the learning happens in the interaction between student and teacher. So, with this in mind, my teaching method is fundamentally participatory - I am not one to just speak knowledge to the student, rather the learning is facilitated through discussion, real world examples and critique between the two of us. I will ask you what it is you would like to get from the class, and then we'll work out a way to get there in a way that makes sense and will stick with you! This can include understanding specific topics, creating work plans, research and critical thought. Part of my job is to coordinate and train volunteers in the mental health sector from all backgrounds and knowledge bases - from PHD students to people just starting their a levels.
As a tutor, I am light hearted, youthful, humorous and supportive. However, I can adapt to the needs of whatever each student requires of me - if there's something i'm not sure on, we will learn together.
