About Laurence

I am a University student studying a double major degree in Education and Psychology. I have been studying Spanish for over 7 years, and have traveled to Spain on multiple exchange projects, and continue to work with local Spaniards to improve, help other students, and immerse in their rich culture. I am a firm believer in praise. I always remember the teachers who praised me, fondly, and so it is the approach I adopt. I feel anyone can learn a subject, it’s just about finding their way - engaging them, and then off we go! I am also a firm believer that one should always be learning. As a teacher, I do not hold the viewpoint that I am a complete fountain of knowledge, but rather a crutch to others, who continues to learn and grow alongside my students and peers. I specialize in working with people with Special Needs, or additional needs, such as ADHD, ASD, ADD, Dyslexic, and others, using my patience and personal family experience to help each student I teach.

About the lesson

I take a varied approach to teaching - this is tailored to each student based on their preferred ways of learning, strengths, and weaknesses. I balance speaking skills, writing, and comprehension development, through immersive classes where Spanish is spoken fluently, with English used as a crutch for extra support when needed. I am a firm believer in using simple tips and tricks, pictures, videos, etc., as catalysts to learning any language. With notes, personal exchange experience, and a warm personality, I believe my approach to learning is one of fun, positivity, and progress.

Deadly! My son liked lessons with Laurence and filled much stronger in Spanish after them. We don't have junior cert exam results yet but we will continue our cooperation next school year anyway. Highly recommended :-)

It was a pleasure teaching Kacper. Kacper started quite late with me as an exam student, however, we worked well together, and I enjoyed endeavouring to understand and cater for his learning needs. A positive and bubbly student!
