About Tavia

Hello! My name is Tavia, and I am a passionate, patient, and creative tutor with a strong background in education, communication, and the performing arts. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance from AFDA and I am currently completing my PGCE in Education. Alongside my studies, I have gained valuable experience working with learners in both classroom and tutoring environments.

I specialize in English, Drama Studies, Creative Arts, public speaking, and conversational English. My lessons are designed to be engaging, supportive, and personalized to each student’s learning style and pace. I believe that every student is capable of succeeding when they are taught with patience, encouragement, and understanding.

As someone with experience in performance and teaching, I bring energy, creativity, and confidence-building techniques into my lessons. I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, express themselves, and grow academically and personally.

About the lesson

Hi, I’m Tavia — a passionate and creative tutor with a background in performance, education, and communication. I graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Live Performance from AFDA and I am currently completing my PGCE in Education. My teaching style is energetic, patient, supportive, and highly interactive, because I believe students learn best when they feel comfortable, confident, and inspired.

I offer lessons in English, Drama Studies, Creative Arts, Performing Arts, public speaking, speech preparation, poetry analysis, and conversational English. I am fluent in English and Afrikaans and can teach in both languages depending on the student’s preference and learning needs.

My tutoring approach focuses on building confidence while making learning enjoyable and easy to understand. I adapt my lessons to each student’s pace and personality, whether they are shy, struggling academically, creative, or preparing for exams, auditions, presentations, or speeches. Because of my theater and teaching background, I bring creativity, movement, communication skills, and real-life examples into lessons to keep students engaged.

A typical lesson with me includes:
