About Ella
I am a recent English Literature graduate from Durham University. I achieved A*s in both English Literature and Language at GCSE, an A* in English Literature at A-Level and a high 2:1 at degree level, with a first in my final year results. I have over two years experience tutoring and have focused on teaching English Literature, English Language, History, Drama and Latin up to GCSE, and English Literature, History and Drama up to A-Level. I also have experience teaching English as a foreign language, where I spent an incredible month in India teaching women aged 16-70. I have just finished a gap year after graduating from uni, and am completing my Law Conversion Course (Master's) in London.

I work with my students to improve their grades through a focus on close analysis as well as engagement with broader themes of the texts and contexts. I keep a focus on expanding vocabulary and refining their grammar, often doing a 'word of the day' at the beginning of my repeat tutees. For students undertaking major exams, I tailor their lessons to the exact exam specifications in order to ensure that everything is covered and understood thoroughly. I focus on going through past exam papers and mark schemes as well as the texts themselves in order to provide a full understanding of the exam and the expectations of examiners.
