About Victoria

My time at Edinburgh University was perhaps the best four years of my life and I would love to share what I learnt with you there and during my master’s degree in philosophy from Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona — no doubt the fifth best year of my life. My education has given me advanced creative and critical thinking skills, expertise in analysing texts and arguments, a wealth of experience in planning essays, presentations and preparing for exams. Most importantly, I’ve been tutoring since I was in high school myself. I have years of experience as a private tutor helping students with English literature and language, as well as multiple experiences of teaching in classrooms, workshops and online both here in Scotland and abroad. A consistently high achieving student, I’m also a musician and a linguist and so I have plenty of personal experience in the rollercoaster ride that is learning!

About the lesson

I help secondary and university students hone their communication and analysis skills and get that extra support to make class work more manageable — and above all, enjoyable. Usually what is most helpful is focusing directly on what you’re currently working on but for those interested, we can of course look at some new material to expand your horizons — and skill set. I’ll help you build your expertise and confidence in identifying and contextualising themes and literary techniques as well as giving you the safe space to work through your ideas and craft them into a response. Verbalising your thoughts can be nerve wracking and so I use games to help break the ice and make the experience fun. I’m currently training as a counsellor and believe me, if your mental health is not something you’ve considered yet while studying — you will! I can help you find your motivation, set realistic goals and identify the steps you need to achieve them.

I can offer a discount if there are more people in the class - come with a friend and it’ll be £12 each for one lesson, £11 each for 5 lessons, or £10 each for 10 lessons.
Classes will be rearrange where possible, but same day cancellations will have to be charged.
