About Kayla

Hello! I am a student at Vanderbilt University with a deep appreciation for languages and a strong track record in Spanish education. In high school, I was a two-time gold medalist for the National Spanish Exam and earned a score of 5 on the AP Spanish Language and Culture exam. My teaching experience includes serving as a high school peer tutor, working as a classroom teaching assistant for a Spanish 1 course, and helping over 20 students master new material.

I love helping students move past the fear of making mistakes so they can feel confident reading, writing, and speaking on their own.

About the lesson

Who These Lessons Are For:

These online sessions are for high schoolers taking any level of Spanish (from Spanish 1 to AP), as well as beginner college undergraduates navigating introductory courses. Whether you are struggling to memorize vocabulary, panicking about an upcoming oral exam, or just feel completely lost during class lectures, we can work together to get you back on track.

The Lesson Structure:

We keep our sessions completely flexible depending on what you need that day. If you are prepping for a class, we can start by reviewing your vocabulary flashcards or looking at a tough grammar rule on a shared screen, walking through examples together, and doing guided practice with real-time feedback. On the other hand, if you just want to improve your speaking skills, we can spend the entire hour having a casual, low-pressure conversation in Spanish to build your fluency. Whatever our goal is, we wrap up by reviewing the main takeaways so you leave the call feeling confident and ready to use your skills independently.
