About Finn
I am a passionate violin tutor with 9+ years of teaching experience, having taught around 300 students from beginner to intermediate levels, including high school students, college learners, and adults. My teaching philosophy is based on clarity, patience, and consistency, as I believe these are the key factors in successful learning.
I focus on building a strong foundation through posture, finger placement, bow control, and sound clarity. I make sure to explain each concept in a simple and understandable way so students can apply it in their practice. I also include exercises and songs that keep lessons engaging and enjoyable.
One of my key achievements is helping students gain confidence and perform without fear. My goal is to create a learning environment where students feel comfortable, motivated, and inspired.

I follow a student-focused approach in teaching violin, prioritising communication, adaptability, and practical engagement. I observe each student’s learning style and tailor lessons to their strengths, pace, and goals.
I teach posture, bowing, fingering, tone production, intonation, phrasing, and expressive playing while encouraging creativity and musical interpretation. Real-life examples like performing favourite pieces, learning with accompaniment, and preparing for recitals make lessons practical and engaging.
I also teach related subjects such as music theory, rhythm exercises, ear training, sight-reading, and basic keyboard skills to build a well-rounded musical foundation. My goal is to foster skill, confidence, and a lifelong passion for music.
