About Eri

Hello! My name is Eri and English is my first language. My love for English and words started as a child, when my mom would bring me to the library every week. I would try to take home as many books to read as my arms could carry, and would be back the next week ready to do it all over again!

As I grew older, I started realizing more and more about how the language I used connected me to the world around me and those I loved. As I study Communications at the Chaminade University of Honolulu, I learn how my major is the art of creating connections and storytelling, and how English is one of the main vehicles in doing so for me.

I was a staff writer for my student newspaper in college, so I'm well-acquainted with the AP guidelines of clean writing. Additionally, I took Creative Nonfiction and Poetry and Drama writing courses, which strengthened my ability to paint pictures with my words. My speech was selected to be the Undergraduate speaker at my university's graduation, where I gave an address to roughly 3,000 people. I have 2 years of experience teaching freshman seminar of my institution, so combining all of those skills together brings me here!

In my free time, you can find me hanging out with my loved ones, practicing my photography skills, or at a concert!

About the lesson

I was always the friend growing up who LOVED to help revise and proofread my friends' essays, so nothing would make me happier to continue doing that for you! Everyone has goals that are personal to them, so I will guide you and cheer you on as you accomplish them.

I'm able to break down concepts and ideas in easy-to-understand formats, and I'm able to meet anyone where they're at in a manner that is warm and nurturing. Learning anything new or wanting to become better is a brave challenge and something to be proud about! You deserve to be tutored by someone who respects and honors that.

Beyond proofreading, I am skilled in vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, and speech, so whatever you feel you may need to strengthen, we'll do it together!
