About Bethan
I have a Post Graduate Certificate in Education, a 2:1 in Creative Writing and English Literature and a long history of working with learners of different ages and abilities.
I have assisted students with English as a Second Language with academic writing style for A Level, one of whom is now a teacher herself. I have worked with dyslexic students to find strategies that work for them, from kinetic learning to using pictographs. I have worked with a group of year six pupils to prepare for the Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar portion of their SATs and by the end they could all explain the Subjunctive Mood to me!
During my degree, I was part of an informal academic writing style study group. I assisted my fellow students with how to write at degree level and with proofing grammar and spelling. I also worked informally with fellow students on the PGCE in preparation for the Level 2 Literacy test required to continue the course. I'm happy to say everyone in our group managed a pass, and demonstrated a greater understanding of Literacy following this.

English is my passion and I am exited to share it with you!
I am a qualified teacher with a 2:1 degree in Creative Writing and English Literature. Whatever area of English you need support with, I am confident that I can work with you to get you to where you need to be. My teaching style is collaborative, centred around your needs as a learner. I believe in being positive and encouraging students to work at their own pace and using learner's interests to engage them.
Lesson structure will vary depending on your needs and what area of English you need to focus on. For example, if you are studying for a test, there is a clear end date and we can begin with the test parameters then focus in on the specifics of what you need to learn. We will measure progress through practising test questions which will increase confidence as well as expertise.
