Stephanie is more than just a tutor to me — she’s a huge part of the reason I am where I am today. I’ve struggled with dyslexia from a young age, and during high school I was removed from my Higher English class within two weeks because I was told I “wouldn’t be able to keep up.”

After that, I moved schools. Even though I wasn’t taking English as a subject, Stephanie still dedicated hours of her time to help me; proofreading UCAS applications, job cover letters, and even university dissertations.

When I finished university, I still had one last hurdle to overcome before achieving my lifelong goal of becoming a teacher. I had my undergraduate degree, but I couldn’t apply for my PGDE because I didn’t have a Higher English qualification. Feeling disheartened, I reached out to Stephanie once again.

Not only did she coach me through the Higher English course, which I passed with a B, she helped me do it all within just four months! Thanks to her support, I was able to apply for and gain a place on one of the most competitive PGDE courses.

Now, as a teacher myself, I strive to offer my pupils the same unwavering support and patience that Stephanie gave me. I can only hope to be half as good a teacher as she is.
