About Sonia
I'm 22. Let's start with that. I didn't always want to be a teacher - in fact I never got along with my own teachers but that made me think a lot more. I wanted to do what my teachers didn't do for me and that was to LISTEN and to UNDERSTAND the child’s needs. I have recently graduated with a English Language and Literature Degree. Whilst I was studying, I needed some experience so I had the opportunity to work in a school and to teach small groups of students. 5 of the students I had taught had achieved 2 grades above their targets, 8 students had achieved 1 grade about their target and 19 students had achieved their target which they were most pleased about.

I know I'm young, but it's effective in a teaching way. How? I'll tell you. There are teachers out there that continue to talk excessively yet the information doesn't stick to your head - as for me, I'll use every technique in the book plus my own ways. Visuals are a big thing for me. Simplifying words / phrases together always helps too. I base my classes on uniqueness – I do not like the term “sets”. Every student have the ability to do something different and in their own way too. If I were to use higher level vocabulary I would always explain it in a simplified yet modern way. I do use dictionaries, but for some this may be ineffective which is fine as I will have visuals to describe these words too.
