About Scott
Hi, I’m Scott.
I work with professionals who already use English at work but feel stuck, plateaued, or dissatisfied with app-based or highly standardized learning. Many of my students have corporate-sponsored lessons or years of study behind them, yet sense that something is missing.
My focus is on helping experienced users of English refine how they think, speak, and interact in real professional situations—not on selling “fluency” or quick confidence boosts. Lessons are calm, practical, and cumulative. We focus on real language, real situations, and the subtle issues that advanced learners often notice but struggle to resolve.
I do not focus on beginners, test preparation, or scripted conversation practice. Instead, I help learners move beyond functional adequacy to achieve precision, clarity, and expressive range.
If you are already at an advanced level of English, use it regularly in professional contexts, and want steady, meaningful progress, we may be a great fit.
I have over 20 years of experience in English education, working primarily with adult learners in academic, professional, and workplace contexts.
My background includes teaching English to university students, working professionals, and international learners who already use English regularly and want to refine their communication. I have taught in classroom settings, as well as in small-group and one-to-one formats, with experience in both in-person and online teaching.
My teaching focus is advanced and professional English, including:
Business and workplace communication
Professional speaking and interaction
Clarity, precision, and expressive range
Grammar and usage as they apply to real communication
I do not focus on beginners, test preparation, or scripted conversation practice. My approach is practical and cumulative, helping learners address subtle gaps that often remain after years of study.
I adapt lessons to each learner’s professional context and goals, emphasizing real language, real situations, and steady, meaningful progress.
If you already use English in your professional life but feel that your progress has slowed, working with an experienced tutor can help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
In our lessons, we focus on real professional situations, clear expression, and the kinds of subtle language issues that often remain at an advanced level. You won’t be rushed or pushed into artificial exercises. Instead, we work thoughtfully and practically, building skills that transfer directly to your work.
If you’re looking for serious, supportive instruction and steady progress rather than quick fixes, I invite you to book a trial lesson and see if we’re a good fit.

Scott and I taught together at a university in South Korea 10 years ago. We both provided one-to-one tutoring in the university’s language clinic in the afternoons. From this perspective I could see very well that Scott is a teacher who really listens. He doesn’t just follow a textbook—he pays attention to how you think, how you speak, and what you’re trying to say, and then helps you express it more clearly in English.
His lessons feel natural and conversational, but you still make real progress. He’s patient, encouraging, and very good at helping students build confidence, especially if they feel stuck or hesitant speaking.
He’s also reliable and easy to communicate with, which makes a big difference when learning online. I’d definitely recommend him to anyone who wants to improve their English in a real, practical way.View more recommendations
