About Tasiah
Hi! I am Tasiah, I am 16 years old and currently starting my A-Levels in Philosophy, English Literature and Politics. I recently achieved an A* in English Literature. At a younger age, it wasn’t my favourite subject, I often found English difficult and frustrating such as analysing texts and writing essays which eventually felt overwhelming at times. Over time, I began to develop strategies and methods to make English more accessible and approachable for myself. It made me appreciate the subject for what it really is such as exploring ideas and perspectives. Once I learnt how to understand texts intricately and structure my essays well, my confidence dramatically grew. English Literature is now a subject I have always loved for the way it encourages critical thinking and deeper understanding of texts. My journey is the main reason I want to tutor. I understand exactly how it feels to struggle with English, and I also know how rewarding it is to overcome those challenges. My aim is to help students at all levels not only improve their skills and grades, but also gain the same confidence and sense of achievement that I did. I am patient, approachable and passionate to help make English Literature more engaging and accessible. Whether you’re preparing for your GCSEs or building your foundation skills in earlier years (year 7 etc), I will help you every step along the way to make the progress more achievable and enjoyable.

Focusing on making English Literature engaging and easier to learn into simpler steps. My lessons are interactive and will tailor to the student’s need, whether that’s understanding key themes, exploring character function or building strong analytical answers for exams. I will encourage students to think independently and ask questions to encourage critical thinking which is essential to developing your own interpretations of the text. Lessons last up to 60 minutes. Each session will begin with a starter of previous work to help memorise, then followed by a focused work for the student and to end with a recap of the session or practice task to consolidate understanding. I achieved an A* in English Literature, this is by critically understanding the mark scheme/assessment objectives for my exam, applying good exam structure and using revision techniques that suited me. I understand that exams are very stressful, especially due to remembering quotes to writing in a fixed time. My perspective makes me relatable and approachable, and I can provide techniques that are practical and proven to work. I offer lessons for GCSE English Literature students - Year 9-11: focusing on set texts like Macbeth, essay writing and exam preparation. Also, offering lessons for younger students - Y4-8: building strong comprehension and writing skills, which will be useful in future exams.
