About Torquil
I have always had a great passion for literature. Stories in particular have always captured my attention and that is always what I look for and what excites me when I read something new. However, I will be the first to admit that I don't always find things easy or entertaining. I have often found myself struggling through texts, either finding them difficult or uninspiring. This has equipped me however with skills that I believe are key to getting the most of any work of literature. I have been taught by some fantastically inspiring teachers and I always strive to serve as a similar source of inspiration and energy to anyone I teach.

It is easiest to learn when you want to learn. This is a philosophy of teaching that I think rings especially true when it comes to literary studies. This is why I always strive to get students interested in what they are learning first and foremost. I keep my lessons short and particularly focused, but make sure that once the lesson is finished, a student always has new targets and knows what they can do to further their studies. I am happy to tutor anyone at any level from the ages of 11 upwards, although admit that my own experience only reaches the level of undergraduate.
