About Millie
I am incredibly passionate about my students enjoying my lessons as much as I do. I completed my BA degree in English Literature last summer, during which I worked as a private tutor, helping students through GCSEs and A Levels to achieve their dream grades. I take care to listen to what students struggle with and always make note of what techniques are most beneficial to them - all brains are different! I know the exam boards inside out and take great pride in being able to explain how to get those extra marks in a simple and easy to understand way. English is difficult! For many students, it's a daunting subject due to its vagueness, content volume, and how tricky the exam questions can be worded. Because of this, I'm a firm believer that exam technique is the number one most important thing to pay attention to to ensure the progression of a student. Once the command words and mark schemes are more familiar, the subject can become fun! Speed mind maps, unpacking quotes on homemade flashcards, getting creative with new vocabulary...it all helps to build a student's confidence. With 4 years' experience as an English private tutor, I know what works with students and I know what doesn't. I'm all about keeping lessons fun and most importantly, engaging. I'm a friendly and passionate person who adores the subject - I want my students to enjoy it too!
