About Iona
Hello there!
My name is Iona and I hold a degree in English literature and Spanish.
I have an infinite love for language and literature, and get very enthused when it comes to sharing this with others, especially when in doing so I can help them achieve their own goals!
When it comes to studying literature, I believe in the importance of brainstorming ideas and being able to hold academic discussions about course material in a fun and interactive manner. Due to this, I am a huge fan of making plans around the material, and then creating engaging activities in order to strengthen the learning process.
When it comes to learning a language for the first time, or furthering one's skills in English, I know just how daunting that can be, and aim to make lessons a relaxing and fun activity.

I tutor English in York to children and adults at all levels, using language techniques and lesson plans I learned through my own language studies while at university. As a lover of languages myself, I am very aware of how daunting it can be to learn a new language, and the trials that come with it. I aim not only to teach the language, but to inspire confidence in students so that they feel comfortable in their learning by building practical skills. I am more than happy to tailor lesson plans according to the needs of my individual students, ensuring that they get the best out of their learning experience.
I can provide lessons in person at a place of your choice, or online webcam via a number of video call applications.
